The Difference a Year Makes

It has been quite a while since I last posted and so much has happened in the last year, I don't know where to start.

A Royal Wedding

Harry and Meghan's wedding in May 2018 was the day my design life took off, although I was doubtful at the time as much Prosecco had been consumed and many unfulfilled plans are made under those circumstances.

However, through a mutual friend I met a wonderful woman who was embarking on an adventure - setting up her own activewear company! We bonded over Prosecco and my signature Malteser Cheesecake.

As an avid runner, she has now clocked up 100 marathons, she knows what she needs from fitness gear.  The formation of the company, research, product design and manufacturing etc was well underway by the time I joined FLANCI Activewear

One Year On...

I am now working with FLANCI Activewear to develop new pattern designs, manage their Social Media content and generally assist with any techie stuff they need.

The pattern development, my favourite bit, has enabled me to utilise some of the pattern work from my portfolio and the various Make It In Design classes that I have enjoyed over the years.  In fact previous Summer School briefs have both provided inspiration for recent patterns.

Inspired by 1960's POP ART, this was a great brief, full of colour and an era in art history that I love.

This was one of my favourite design briefs ever.  Full of colour and fantastic imagery all inspired by Mexican culture, art, tradition, food and nature.  I still have a sketch book full of drawings still to develop so I'm sure I will be adding to this collection in time.

Summer School 2019

I've signed up for MIID Summer School this year which will start in a couple of weeks time.  I always get "Brief Envy" when I see what the Beginner and Intermediary groups have been set, but I have to be realistic about how much extra work I can manage.  So it's just one track for me this year.

Who knows you might see my resulting designs on leggings one day.

If you would like to know more about the Summer School you can access the information by clicking the banner below.

I hope to see you there.
