I spent an enjoyable, if tiring day, in London yesterday at the Surface Design Show in Islington.
As I am embarking on a “live” brief for my next Uni module it was a great event for seeing new material innovations, speak to manufacturers and other designers.
It was a lot to take in so I will be posting a series of highlights over the next few days…
To start off there was a chance meeting with one of my favorite designers,
Ptolemy Mann who was fresh back from her trip to India with Julian Blair of Rug Maker. They both took time to chat a little about the rugs and RugMaker’s recent work with the British library to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the publication of Alice in Wonderland as featured recently by Elle Decoration

I hope I didn’t come across as a blithering idiot in the presence of one of my design heroines, but it’s not often you get to meet someone you have written about in your last study module.
Anyway, after that encounter I was in need of a sit down and lunch so I treated myself to the finest guacamole in the city ( I hate it when people refer to London as town !) at Wahaca.
Oh there might have been some tostadas and maybe churros with melted chocolate – just maybe!
I’ll leave you with this thought for the day from Bobby Solomon
“Put yourself, and your work, out there every day, and you’ll start meeting some amazing people.”
